Direct Scarlet 4BS mainly used for dyeing cellulose fiber fabrics such as cotton and viscose, with good dye uptake, poor transfer ability, and salt sensitivity. It can also be used for direct printing and color matching with dyes such as yellow, orange, red, and brown. It can also be used for dyeing fabrics such as silk and wool. It can also be used to manufacture lake pigments for dyeing paper and pulp.

What Is Direct Scarlet 4BS

Direct Scarlet 4BS is red powder. Dissolved in aqueous solution, it turns bright red with a solubility of 30g/L at 80 ℃. Slightly soluble in ethanol, orange in color, insoluble in acetone. When exposed to concentrated sulfuric acid, it turns bright red to magenta, and when diluted, it turns brownish orange. Direct Scarlet 4BS aqueous solution is concentrated with hydrochloric acid to form a wine red precipitate; Add 10% sulfuric acid to turn light blue, and add concentrated sodium hydroxide solution to turn red light orange brown; Add 10% sodium carbonate solution without any changes. For dyeing cellulose fibers, the dye has good absorbance and the affinity is highest at 80-100 ℃. Direct Scarlet 4BS have good acid resistance, darkens when exposed to copper colored light and remains unchanged when exposed to iron colored light.
